Current Position and Professional Functions
Dr. Mamdani is the Director of the Applied Health Research Centre (AHRC) of the Li Ka Shing Knowledge Institute of St. Michael’s Hospital. He is also Associate Professor in the Institute of Health Policy, Management and Evaluation (IHPME) and the Leslie Dan Faculty of Pharmacy at the University of Toronto where he supervises graduate students, and an adjunct Scientist at the Institute for Clinical Evaluative Sciences (ICES). Prior to joining the Li Ka Shing Knowledge Institute, Dr. Mamdani was a Director of Outcomes Research at Pfizer Global Pharmaceuticals in New York.
Education and Training
Dr. Mamdani is the Vice President of Data Science and Advanced Analytics (DSAA) at Unity Health Toronto and Dorector of the Temerty Centre for Artificial Intelligence Research and Education in Medicine (T-CAIREM) of the Faculty of Medicine at the University of Toronto. He is also Professor in the Temerty Faculty of Medicine, the Leslie Dan Faculty of Pharmacy, and the Dalla Lana Faculty of Public Health at the University of Toronto where he supervises graduate students, a Faculty Affiliate at the Vector Institute, and a Senior Adjunct Scientist at IC/ES. Prior to joining the Li Ka Shing Knowledge Institute, Dr. Mamdani was a Director of Outcomes Research at Pfizer Global Pharmaceuticals in New York.

Research Interests and Expertise
Dr. Mamdani’s research interests include pharmacoepidemiology, pharmacoeconomics, drug policy, and advanced analytics (including artificial intelligence) in healthcare. He has published approximately 500 research studies in peer-reviewed medical journals.
