Education and Training
Austin received his Masters in Genetics at Queen's University. Prior to beginning his doctoral studies, Austin spent several years working in the pharmaceutical industry in regulatory affairs. In addition, Austin has also held roles in the medtech space, working on educational tools for global reimbursement strategies.

Research Interests and Expertise
Austin's interests revolve around decision making and optimizing resource investments, using methods of health technology assessment. For his thesis, Austin is exploring the application of economic evaluation and decision analytic modelling to prioritize quality indicators for improvement, using chronic obstructive pulmonary disease as a test model.
