Education and Training

I graduated from the Faculty of Medicine, University of Lisbon in 2006 and completed my Medical Oncology training at the Portuguese Institute of Oncology in Lisbon in 2013. I moved to Toronto in September of 2013 for the Breast Cancer and Melanoma Medical Oncology Fellowship at the Sunnybrook Odette Cancer Centre. I have been I student at the Institute of Health Policy, Management and Evaluation, University of Toronto, since July 2014.

• Adjuvant chemotherapy for Early-Stage Breast Cancer in Ontario: short and long term toxities and outcomes
• The Impact of the Oncotype DX® Breast Cancer Assay on Treatment Decisions in a Canadian Population of women with ER-positive, early breast cancer with 1-3 positive lymph nodes who are potential candidates for chemotherapy, but for whom the benefits of chemotherapy may be uncertain
• Economic evaluation of the 21-gene Recurrence Score assay for patients with node positive, estrogen-rec eptor positive early-stage breast cancer.
• A Study to Evaluate the Safety and Feasibility of Blood-Brain Barrier Disruption Using Transcranial MRI-Guided Focused Ultrasound with Intravenous Ultrasound Contrast Agents in the treatment of Her2-positive breast cancer brain metastases with intravenous trastuzumab
