Dr. Hafizah Besar Sa’aid is a Postdoctoral fellow at Toronto General Hospital Research Institute/ THETA, she is a Senior Lecturer from Universiti Teknologi MARA (Malaysia).
Education and Training
Hafizah received her Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) degree in Health Services Management from the Griffith Health, Griffith University, Queensland, Australia (Malaysian Ministry of Education - SLAI scholarship) in 2014. In 2018, she received a postdoctoral scholarship from Malaysia Ministry of Education to pursue her postdoctoral training at the University of Toronto, Canada.
Research Interests and Expertise
Hafizah’s doctoral thesis was titled “The Adoption of Health Technology Assessment (HTA) in not-for-profit Selected Southeast Queensland’s Hospitals”. The thesis examined how well verse the dissemination of HTA products among the healthcare professionals at local level, it also investigated how the decision makers in hospitals make decision on introducing new health technologies, do they use HTA as a guide in their decisions, and what were the contextual factors that influence the HTA adoption at hospitals. She is a principal investigator and a recipient for Fundamental Research Grant Scheme (FRGS) from Malaysian Government for a research on “Islamic Bioethics and Healthy Technology Assessment (HTA): A New Integrated Model”. Her areas of expertise include research utilization and knowledge translation, diffusion of innovation in healthcare, Islamic bioethics, and mix-methods research design.
