Current Position and Professional Functions
Welson Ryan is THETA’s IT Architect. He is responsible for designing and maintaining the systems that enable THETA to collect, analyze and report research data. He is also responsible for providing technical training to THETA staff and collaborators, ensuring end-user adoption of new research information systems.
Education and Training
Welson holds an Advanced Diploma (Honours), Computer Programmer Analyst from Humber College, Toronto. He has co-authored a number of academic healthcare research papers and is excited to be applying to graduate research degree programs to further contribute to the healthcare research, applied computing body of knowledge.

Research Interests and Expertise
Prior to THETA, and in addition to his broad industry experience, Welson designed and implemented a clinical trials data collection and reporting system for another award-winning research team. His current interests include applications of artificial intelligence (AI) methods in healthcare research, telehealth and remote patient monitoring, predictive analytics, wearable medical devices, the internet of things (IoT), big data management in research, and applications of interactive data visualizations in research and clinical settings.
